Plain alphabetical lists of places to eat in Tuscaloosa by category, from wings and pizza to sushi, bakeries and patios, checked against each place's own site.

Last checked 2026-10-17. Refreshed every three months.

These are our plain lists of places to eat in Tuscaloosa, one page per kind of food. Each one is alphabetical and gives every confirmed place’s address, its hours as it publishes them and its phone number, with a link to its own website. Most places cluster downtown around 20th to 23rd avenues, on University Boulevard between downtown and campus, in the Midtown Village area of McFarland Boulevard East, and along Skyland Boulevard and 15th Street.

How we made these lists. The places come from OpenStreetMap records inside Tuscaloosa’s city limits, the same data behind our local directory, checked against each place’s own website on Oct. 17, 2026. Places we added or left out are named on each list. The lists are not rankings or recommendations, and nobody paid to be on them. Run a restaurant? Write to us to correct an entry or to be added.

Mexican and Tex-Mex restaurants lists six restaurants with 13 locations, including a sit-down restaurant and tequila bar downtown, a local fast-food chain that dates to 1974 and the late-night drive-thrus.

Breakfast and coffee has 13 places with 19 locations: breakfast restaurants downtown and by the river, espresso bars and coffee houses, early-opening chains and 24-hour diners.

Bakeries has four bakeries for cakes, cookies and bread on McFarland Boulevard and University Boulevard.

Patios and outdoor dining lists five places whose own sites say they have a patio, terrace or outdoor seating, mostly downtown and by the river.

We do not have a barbecue list yet: only three barbecue restaurants inside the city limits had sites we could check on Oct. 17, and we publish a list only when we can confirm at least four.
