What you will find
Booths of fresh fruits and vegetables, baked goods and one-of-a-kind crafts, the market says, with local coffee to sip while you browse. The vendor page introduces the regulars, and the market map shows where each one is assigned for the year. Vendors move indoors when space opens up.
POP Kid’s Club: on the third Saturday of every month the market runs its free “Power of Produce” club, with a kids’ craft and a two-bite tasting challenge of a fruit or vegetable in season.
Tuesday markets return each summer with up to 12 farmers and 25 vendors and a theme each week. In 2026 they ran from June 2 to July 28, with a tomato sandwich day, a peach party and a watermelon giveaway, according to the city’s May 20 announcement.
Paying: cash, cards and SNAP
Payment varies by vendor. All take cash and most take credit cards; some take checks, Apple Pay or Venmo.
- SNAP/EBT: go to the market manager’s information table to swipe your EBT card. You get tokens to spend with vendors on SNAP-eligible food: fruits and vegetables, food-producing plants such as tomato plants, bread, eggs, meat, dairy, syrup and honey, whole baked goods, canned goods and packaged coffee beans. Tokens cannot buy hot or ready-to-eat food, pastries, cookies, flowers or non-food items.
- Double Up Food Bucks: SNAP shoppers get matching tokens to spend on fresh fruits and vegetables, and they do not expire.
- Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program: low-income seniors with an SFMNP card can use it with produce vendors who display the card’s sign. Apply through the Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries.
Getting there and parking
The main parking lot is entered from Jack Warner Parkway at 21st Avenue (the market’s recommended entrance) or at Queen City Avenue, which is closest to the accessible parking. Only vehicles with a disabled parking decal may use the lot nearest the building. When the market is busy, use one of four nearby public lots: at the Tuscaloosa Public Library and the Mildred Warner Westervelt Transportation Museum across Jack Warner Parkway, at the Visitor Center, or just east of the Riverwalk pedestrian bridge.
Note that Jack Warner Parkway is closed west of Nick’s Kids Avenue for the railroad trestle project; see road construction and closures.
