Tuscaloosa City Schools are out Monday to Friday, March 22-26, and the University of Alabama’s break runs Saturday, March 20, through Sunday, March 28, so city students and the university are off the same week. Camps

The Tuscaloosa County Park and Recreation Authority’s paraKids day camps cover school breaks through the 2026-27 school year, including spring break, March 22-26, 2027, and the spring holiday, April 15-16. A camp runs only if at least 30 campers register for that day. Sign up through PARA’s online registration; questions go to PARA at 205-562-3220.

  • Hurricane Creek Park, 7005 Old Birmingham Highway, run by PARA: from February to May, wildflowers bloom at the “M Bend,” below tall sandstone cliffs, according to the park page. Call 205-562-3210.
  • The Riverwalk along the Black Warrior River, open from 6 a.m. until one hour after sunset, the city says. See our walking and biking trails guide.
  • Kentuck’s Art Market, free, Saturday, March 20, at Kentuck at Queen City, 1901 Jack Warner Parkway (listing).
  • Tuscaloosa Farmers Market, every Saturday, 7 a.m. to noon, at the River Market, 1900 Jack Warner Parkway.
  • The public library: the Tuscaloosa Public Library posts its programs on its events calendar.
  • First Friday, March 5, 5 to 8 p.m., the downtown gallery night before the break.

What is closed

The Children’s Hands-On Museum, 2213 University Blvd., closed to the public after Aug. 1, 2026, after 40 years. It plans to reopen as Ignite, a science center in the Saban Center, in late 2027, according to its website.
